About Our Volunteers

The strength of AIDS Niagara lies in the commitment and services provided by our dedicated volunteers. Without volunteer effort, we would be challenged to continue providing the broad scope of support services and extensive educational outreach that we offer.

Our Board of Directors along with various committees & working groups, and the smooth administration of our office is the result of the hard work and dedication of our wonderful volunteer community. Our Volunteers and staff are truly our greatest assets.

Volunteer Training & Responsibilities

All volunteers undergo a general orientation about AIDS Niagara, roles and responsibilities of volunteers, and basic education about HIV & AIDS. Depending upon your area of interest, further program specific training is provided as needed.

All volunteers must agree to protect client confidentiality, and must accept in principle the current Mission Statement, Values, Objectives and Goals as set out in our Constitution. Volunteer positions that involve direct client contact require a Police Clearance Certificate .

Volunteer Opportunities

AIDS Niagara can provide most people an opportunity to get involved.
Volunteer opportunities exist in a variety of areas including:

  • drivers (e.g. transporting clients to medical appointments)
  • moving furniture for clients
  • friendly visiting with clients
